“Highway Heroes” and “Knights of the Road”, we used to hear these terms all of the time. It almost seems as if it was common to hear about the trucker who saved the stranded motorist, stood up for the underprivileged, or reported the maniac motorist to the police on the CB before he killed someone. Everyone was proud of the trucker, the over-the-road champion of good over evil.
We haven’t seen that so often in the news these days. Everyone is in a hurry and looking out for number one. Motorists aren’t so proud of the American Trucker anymore. Well that’s not the case for three PMTG drivers recently. On at least three occasions over the past few weeks we have had calls or letters commending our own Highway Heroes.
While we receive our share of calls complaining about the slow truck that wouldn’t get out of the way or didn’t move over to let them onto the highway, we also receive those calls praising our drivers. Last week we received a call commending Larry McElfresh’s courtesy on the road. The caller commented that Larry was one of the most courteous drivers she had seen. “He’s really putting up with a lot of idiots out here,” she commented. She wanted us to know that she appreciated Larry’s calmness when everyone around him was in a mad rush to get to work.
Another correspondence praised Danny Meeks for his assistance in changing a tire for two stranded motorists who couldn’t have changed it themselves. They couldn’t thank Danny enough and even tried to pay him for his time, but he was too proud for that and wished them well. They wanted to be sure that PMTG knew what a courteous driver we have on the road.
In June, Cathy Lemmon from the Safety Department was in Washington DC with her family on vacation and was trying to show her children all of the sights and sounds and history of our nation’s capital. Who did they meet but a PMTG truck making a delivery? Silas Andrews was excited to show the kids how the truck works and what he does for PMTG. Cathy says it was a highlight of the trip, her family was able to see the truck and cargo and meet a wonderful driver and they now better understand what it is that she talks about at the dinner table.
We at PMTG are still proud of the American Trucker and especially of Larry, Danny, and Silas for a job well done. Your courtesy and assistance go along way towards making PMTG the company it is, a long way towards giving us the reputation that we still care about those around us, a little more concerned about our fellow motorist. Thanks again for your good deeds. Everyone at PMTG appreciates you!

I would like to take a moment to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Jack in dispacth and everyone else that worked together, including those in Greer; to help my husband Dave get to his sons boot camp graduation at Fort Jackson in S. Carolina. Having served in the Army himself Dave is very proud of his son and being there tomorrow (sept.15th) is a VERY big deal to him. I have said over and over again that PMTG actually cares about their drivers and the families, once again you have proven that to be TRUE! Dave and I can NEVER thank you enough for taking the time to work out this matter and to even care about it to begin with. Thank you one and all.
Sincerely,
Tammy Wilcox
